Seize the day!! Carpe Diem!!!

If you notice the trend of these recent years after social media sprouted, you'd know that people nowadays, especially youth, are obsessed with recording all aspects of their life with pictures. Food, entertainment, gathering with friends... It's all over Facebook, Twitter, and of course, Instagram. That, plus the amount of young people owning a DSLR, a compact camera or at least opt for a better resolution camera on a mobile phone, would probably give you an idea of how important taking pictures is to the people now.

This design, Carte Diem is a play of words combining "carte", which means card in French, and the concept of "carpe diem".

When we say carpe diem, it's about seizing the moment and living life to the fullest. In times now, money is usually needed in order to do that. So what happens if you're having fun but you suddenly realize you don't have enough cash with you? It would be quite a bummer if you have to run off to the nearest ATM to get money. This is when you let Carte Diem help you avoid embarrassment in a stylish manner.

The concept is to live life to the fullest (carpe diem) while we're still young without the problem of being low on cash. The camera symbolizes the capturing of the best moments of your life.

Capturing the moment of fun and enjoyment with your credit card just like you're recording a valuable memory with a camera. Just one swipe, like the clicking of the shutter, and everything you're doing and paying for will be down in history. Why miss the opportunity when you can grab it? Your ticket of opportunity to live life to the fullest is in your grasp.  Take it, record it, remember it.

Carpe diem with Carte Diem. Never miss another great moment (because you're short on cash). *wink*

Breakfast makes me less grumpy

I usually have breakfast.
Usually, as in weekdays.
I get all grumpy and super unproductive if I don't get my daily dose of early morning coffee and sandwich.

It was a Sunday morning
and I woke up at 8.00am to get ready.
It was a breakfast with famous bloggers from Nuffnang, (KY Speaks, Cheesie, BeautifulNara, Sixthseal, Cikepal) at McDonald's Bandar Sri Damansara.

And a kitchen tour. =D

Ah Yat drove so I have the time to camwhore + edit the picture + post it on instagram
before we even got there.
As shown.

When we got there,
there was a free flow
of Egg McMuffin, hashbrown and coffee/tea
waiting to sink into our stomachs.

Btw, McDonald's is giving out free Egg McMuffins in conjunction with National Breakfast Day!!
Click here for more info.

The welcome speech and a little introduction to National Breakfast Day.

Then the tour begins!!
I was under KYSpeak's group.

We get to look at the machines that make your meals close up. =D
Well not too close, coz
you see the oil boiling and you think a drop of water in that
and you'll be history if you're next to it.

Ok maybe it's just me.
The heat was good enough to keep me away too though.

How hot can that be? you ask. Well, for this machine which makes those renowned fries
cooks the fries from 0 degrees to deep fry in 3 minutes.
That's 360 degrees Fahrenheit, approx. 182 degrees Celsius.

You see these boxes with pipes?
That's where your soft drinks come from.
They come in packs like these without the gas

and the machine above it (which I have failed to capture)
pumps the gas in and creates the soft drink we're familiar with.

And when I look at them,
I think they look a lot like bears wearing gas masks.
Like so.

The "meat rack".
Ok that's not what it's called, but that's where they put the patties before slapping it on the bun.

A different type of "I'm a tourist" picture.

I didn't know KY was standing next to me then.
But then, you don't get photobombed by a famous blogger everyday. =p

Here's where they fry the patties.
They lay them out,
put the presser (black thing on top) down,
and the patties are sizzled both sides at the same time.

But I'm more interested in what happens on the left.

Oiling it up.

Cracking the eggs in.

Let it fry a little.

Cover the eggs up.

And that is how your eggs are fried. =D

The washing of the stove.

Ok I didn't manage to take pictures of KY making the burger.
Either the staff was blocking or I was distracted by the other machines around. =X

But it was quite rushed because our group was the last, with Cikepal's group,
It's suppose to be for breakfast,
and breakfast ends at 11am in McD
(And should end everywhere else too, because 11am should be brunch. Or second breakfast)

so we don't have time to carefully examine every nut and bolt of the machines.

"I was here",
you know, next to the banner.
Looking weird.

My outfit of the day.
Neon and grey top from Kitschen, 1U
Denim shorts from asian avenue, Sunway Pyramind,
Studded bag from Deeper and Harder, 1U.

And for the effort of taking breakfast,
we got a thumbdrive
and vouchers. *widegrin*

Got an eye-opening tour, free breakfast, and more reward.
I can live like this.

As I say to a lot of people,
breakfast is very important,
lunch is mediocre,
dinner is meh.
(paraphrased)

So,
MAKE SURE YOU wake up to EAT BREAKFAST!!!

I try to fashion

First self-shot outfit of the day picture.

Top- Padini Authentic
Pants- Romp
Shoes- Summit Mall
Studded envelope clutch- Deeper & Harder/ Fourskin

Well it's not a "Wow" outfit,
but I feel like starting an OOTD thing.

Plotted my cam on a tripod and my head still turned out blurry.
The shuttle was slow.

Working in an office has its limitations when it comes to clothing,
even when we're allowed to wear casual clothes.

We started to have this no short skirts rule since January,
which is unfortunate for me
because all my skirts are short.
I don't wear maxi dresses because of my not really long legs.

First attempt on the giant bun.
If my hair was longer, the bun would be waaaaaaaaaay bigger.

I think I'm trying to make my pics look "editorial-ish" rather than to show off my outfit. =X
Like I'm more interested in photography than fashion.
But I like both, and suck at both.

I've bought my GF2 for more than half a year and I'm still constantly on auto mode.

This is probably the "swaggiest" look that I've ever put together.
And it's for Nuffnang's ProjectInsta.
Only my second attempt after about 20(?) themes.
The theme for this was Fashion Swag.
And well I think my dad's round vintage sunshades help turn my hipster mode on.

Galaxy printed sheer top from Brands Outlet.
Corset top (which I've only worn once) from a shop in Asian Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.
That shop (which I dun remember the name) has a range of corset tops
and other "swag" items, i.e. the Snapback. (The flat front cap.) baseball jackets

Never really been a "fashionista", but I do like to see how other people dress up.
Anyway,
I'm going to try and post as much outfit photos here. You know, if you're interested.

Or you can follow me on instagram @sherlynn_t

Different this year

Yay, finally another update. I don't even want to check the last time I updated. =X

Well this is about CNY. It's probably an unstated compulsory for everyone to blog about their CNY.
Took a plane back this year. The first time I took a plane back.
I don't like it.
I hate landings in particular.
Always hated it.
>___________<

Friday I went to Gurney Plaze before fetching my sister from the airport.
Wanted to get a new purse from Coach,
but ended up getting 1 that's just a fraction of the price.

The phone covers were from a pre-CNY pasar malam.
Super cheap because that was the last night.
grey phone cover,
starbucks logo phone cover,
purse, (forgotten the shop name. 6th floor Gurney Plaza)
yellow iPhone cord,
spiky bangle set from Fourskin,
Salmon and black rose earrings from a stall in Gurney Plaza.
flat studded bracelet (same place as the purse)
spiky neon bracelet from Fourskin
and sunglasses ring from Fourskin

I don't like CNY because of all the cleaning.
=/
Why does everything have to be spotless...

I actually planned to wear my red top for first day
but mom said everyone should wear dress.
And so I pulled out my maxi dress.

(Compensated by wearing red on the 9th day)
Hokkien New Year!!

Second day,

unleash the red!!!!
I love the top and can't wait to wear it,
but after a full day of wearing,
it kept growing longer and longer,
and now it's alsmost dress length.
--______________--lll

And only had 1 lousang session,
with family + mom's youngest bro and my grandfather.
Seeing my grandfather just being old is heartache worthy.
T^T
Sorry ah kong, lu eh sun bo hao.

For CNY I didn't go out with my friends until the day before coming back to Subang.
Watched all the tv programs!!
And there's this particular advert that's very annoying.
I think you can guess which one if you watched even 20 mins of tv.
*drumroll*
*badum tsss*

Oh and I downloaded the 3 Donkey Kong games
and Super Mario Bros too.
:3
Play all the games!!

And I bought this cute scrunchy,
I like how it matches my hair colour then.
Now my hair colour has faded into ugly blonde. --_________--lll

Had Nasi Ulam as breakfast I forgot for which day.
With wine. hahahahaha.
In case you can't see clearly,
the rice is blue.

Talking about this,
I never really embraced my nyonya heritage,
but I sure love the food!!
Especially one of my aunt's Kari Kapitan.
YUMMMEEEHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Not sure if Kari Kapitan is particularly nyonya food,
but the way she cook it,
the rempah she use is definitely nyonya style.

And while sorting out months of mail which accumulated since the last time I went home,
I found this.
It's a picture by the child I sponsor through World Vision.
Was very touched when I see this,
and it struck me that I should send him some colour pencils. =X
Useless sponsor I am.

I stayed home about 50% of the time I was back in Penang,
and 25% was on visiting,
25% was stuck in traffic.

Being stuck in traffic in Butterworth is very new to me.
--___________--lll
After staying there for around 20 years,
(not counting the years when I was too young to remember)
it was never that bad.

I love how they decorate the whole stretch of road with lanterns.
That's how Chinese Jalan Ong Yi How is.

Not much visitations this year,
we just went to the few houses that are compulsory,
and most of the relatives are not kepoh,
so I was only asked: got boyfriend ah? once.
What do you work as? once.

*successkid.jpg*

That was how I spent my CNY in my home town.

After coming back,
it was just work work and more work.

So nothing much to post about.
OL problem.

Well I hope your CNY is more fun that mine.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. Been so lazy to blog lately because there wasn't much to blog about.
I've almost stopped going to events and working life is just a giant snooze button,
so that's that.
Will try to update more often,
but make sure you read ok?
Please?

The green haired deese

This is what I do when I have free time once in awhile.
I play with Illustrator.

The reason I've stopped showing my "artwork" with Illustrator recently
is that I've been rather busy at work,
and I only have Illustrator at work.

But now I've finished one project,
I have time to spare before CNY rolls in.

This was how it was suppose to look like,
but I saved the file in the wrong format,
so I had to redo from the last template I saved,
which is not that far away. (Luckily)

Ok la quite happy that I showed this to someone
and it was considered to be used a wallpaper. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Room for improvement I have.
And work hard I will. =)

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. It's quite hard to be a hipster with hair colour nowadays.
Probably every colour has been tried by someone...

So many colours are used now,
black hair is actually quite hipster.
Not mainstream at all.
