Colossal Titan from Attack on Titan Makeup

Went shopping with my dude yesterday and being an anime lover,
he dragged me over to the Animangaki Convention in Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.

The cosplays were meh, but we saw one of the girls wearing a Japanese 'sailor' school uniform with the mask of Colossal Titan from Shingeki no Kyojin a.k.a Attack On Titan. (wtf?)
My dude said "if someone could do make up of that look, it'll be quite epic" (paraphrased)
and 2 words popped up in my head:

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!

So after I got home, I decided to try out the look.
If you don't know how the Colossal Titan looks like, the reference is at the end of the post.

The before titan look.

Making the parts that are supposed to be white brighter with BB cream.

 Smear it and blend it.

Roughly mark out the lines for the white and red sections.
I used a liquid eyeliner.
You can use anything else as long as you can clearly see the lines and know the separation for colours.
Refer to the pictures to know where the tendons and muscles go.

Added white eyeshadow for the white parts.
Not too obvious but it doesn't really matter because once the red goes on,
the contrast would be obvious enough.

Smeared lipstick all the parts that are supposed to be red.

Smudge it out to fill in the blank parts.
Don't forget to leave a part at the cheeks for the teeth on the sides.

Draw in the teeth. Fill in the gaps that are not supposed to be teeth with more lipstick.
The teeth are in one straight line so just draw a straight horizontal line and draw bows on top and below it,
which should align.

Add on more details to the lines and make the "lining" of the red part darker,
blending the lines with the lipstick for the shadowing.
I used a copious amount of gel liner for easier blending.
Drew some of the lines with brown eyeshadow too.

As for the brush, I used a lip brush and angle brush.

And finally, draw in the rest of the details.
Pay more attention to the tendons. They should be in a very thin line, but since I don't have the correct tools, this will do. And by this time, I was pretty darn lazy to add in too many details.

I think I kinda look like Darth Maul.
Next project maybe. =X

I modified the teeth part so that it looks flatter and better. The one on top looks like the titan needs braces.
So, here's the end look,
and how the titan would look like if it had hair.

Can? Can? Pass?
XD

It's ok if you make mistakes.
Through out this whole make up test I wiped off a lot of make up and redid parts by parts.
Just don't lose patience and clear everything off.

I don't recommend using lipstick because it comes off very easily.
Since it's an impromptu thing, I just used whatever I have, which is basic make up items like:
Lipstick
White eyeshadow
Liquid liner
Gel liner
Angle brush
Lip brush

I suggest you use face paint as it's probably easier.

Houston, we have a problem

So, this mascara is like THE big thing mascara that Maybelline has been creating hype for.
They're so proud and confident about this mascara that they even have a "money back guarantee".
Well it could be fake confidence since most Malaysians would just say
"Aiya never mind la, have to go back to return waste time. Next time don't buy again can liao"

How many of you actually would go back for the money back?

Since their focus is on no clumping, I tested it out, and here's the answer.

After first coat

After second coat

It doesn't really clump if you apply 2 coats, but for the second coat, you'll see that the tip of the lashes are slightly bulkier and thicker, meaning if I went on with coat number 3, clumping will happen.

The other eye shows lashes without mascara.

My verdict:
It's just an average mascara.

Does it lengthen my lashes?
Yes, but not very much.

Does it volumize?
It does what a mascara should do. Refer to pictures above and you be the judge.

Does it smudge?
No. It stays in place all day long, unless you touch it or pull it.

Is it waterproof?
Not at all. Once water drips on it, it just falls off. You can just pluck if off and it won't it hurt.

Is it worth the hype?
MEH

Even though this is a decent mascara, I don't get the hype. It's just... decent. It's not extra good, it's not bad. Priced at RM39.90 it's slightly more expensive than other mascara by Maybelline,
which I don't see why.

I did get a free gift with purchase though.

After 12 hours of applying. Still looking fresh. The only thing I love about this mascara.

Tell me what you think about it if you've tried it.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au revoir~

Dat non-existing things called prooof-read*

Yes, irony.

If you don't know, I work both full time and freelance as a translator/ copywriter. #UnnecessaryConfession

I sometimes have to check the work of other people and although I don't have perfect grammar, I do try my best to follow the rules, especially when it's work related. Even in my blog I try to make it as grammatically correct as possible.

I've been very annoyed recently because I have to endure the horror of correcting obvious grammatical mistakes, which are absolutely ridiculous.

I get it, people make mistakes, I wouldn't dare say that there are zero errors in my work, but the correction I have to do for others is incredibly stupid.

I think it's unacceptable that people who are paid to work could be so lazy in proof-reading.

I could understand when people make mistakes when speaking, because the brain might not be able to form a grammatically correct sentence on cue, but this is written work, the person is given enough time to check it, and yet I find sentences like:

Tradition industry are fishery

The florid of rose are love. As to express his endless love to his beloved, he frozen the rose and gave it to the girl. They live a happily life ever after.

The egg that made with golden symbolize harvest and prosperous, but only those who are rich enough will craft this mascot on purpose.

and one of the best

In Greece mythology, Prometheus light a star anise out if the flame of sun car. He brings the fire and walk into human, Athena then blow a magic wind into it. When the flame was finally blow off, it turns into a crystal that able to bloom 7 different colour.

My brain hurts when I see sentences like these. And this is AFTER I rejected the work and asked the person to check. TWICE

I wonder if the people who wrote these sentences read and understood it. Somebody save me.

I don't think there's an excuse for such terrible mistakes. If you apply for a job that involves and revolves around language and grammar, you should know your shit. If not, you should know you're shit.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. I did think it through, you know, if it's unprofessional to talk about work, but I'm not talking about the people I work for, I'm just pointing out how lazy some people can be. And to be honest, if the people really did their job, this post wouldn't come up. So that's that.

I hide no more

There's always a time when I suddenly feel like changing. And the biggest change I can do is my hair, that's why you keep seeing me with different hair styles/ colour.

I caught myself checking out too many short hair-dos, be it bob cut or boy cut. When I had short hair I wanted to have long hair because I can do a lot of things with it, but when I have long hair, meh. I barely even tie it up. I don't know how to tie a pony tail.

On a good day it takes me around 5 minutes to tie a pony tail, only to untie it and repeat, and ending with giving up. The only joy I have is when I curl my hair, but because I wash my hair in the morning and don't have enough time to curl it to go to work, that is my limited edition joy.

The limited changes I can do even with long hair.

As my hair grew longer and longer, I realize that my confidence kept dropping and dropping.
Maybe it's a psychological thing.
I have something to hide behind.

After 2 years of letting my hair grow, I went from

to

Ok, it's not very obvious here. It's reaches my boobs.
I went through all my pictures and realize that I didn't have a lot of full body shots.
None of the pictures show how long my hair is.

And I forgot to take a pic before I did anything to it *sigh*

I went to the saloon near my office and I asked the stylist to curl my hair. I wanted change, but I didn't need to involve cutting. If curling was fine then I would be happy too.

Unfortunately, after curling my hair, it became fragile and jelly-like.

The stylist said he had to cut the ends off and I was left with shoulder length hair.
The curls wasn't even obvious and were really messy.
After the curling and washing and cutting, it was really late already,
so I had to go back the next day.

I went home and realize that even after he cut off around 6 inches of my hair,
the remaining was still really coarse and messy.

The defeated look.

I went back the next day and made up my mind that I should just cut everything off.
I can't stand not being able to run my fingers through my hair.
My hand was stuck among the head-bush and I don't know how much I will need to spend on hair treatment to get it back to normal again.

Since my hair is already so dry, I can't do rebonding so I'll have to live with coarse and ugly hair.

In the end, I cut and dyed it red. It was the first time ever I got the red that I wanted.

First day, after cutting and dying, facing the sun.
Ok so it looks purplish... But I swear it was red.

And, voila. Short hair ftw.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. Tell me what you think about my new hair. =D

Turning 25

The reason my blog is so dead recently is because I have nothing to write about
and when I do have something to write about,
I'm lazy.

So, with the combination of 1 month of procrastination, boredom, and going through my pictures in my phone,
I've decided that it's time to write how I turned 25.

For starters, I was born 25 years ago, so I turned 25 this year. Logic.

Now to the not so detailed details.

The Pre-Birthday Celebration

My birthday was on Sunday. My colleagues threw a small party for me in Secret Recipe near my office
and invited people that I hang out with in the office,
which is basically 2 other translators, the fiance or one of the translator, and another dude that everyone likes. LOL. Because I'm a snob and I don't interact much with my colleagues.

They didn't tell me it was for my birthday but I guessed it anyway,
because on Thursday my boss was quite concerned if I would just suddenly not show up on Friday.

She should not play anything that needs a poker face.

So my first cake(s)?

The strawberry one was super sour and no one liked it, so I finished it because, well it's my cake.

Saturday was another lazy day. I spent most of the day at home and at night, I went to this epic party.

My second time at "Where's The Party".
Basically as the name of the party suggests, we don't know where the party is.
We get the gathering point, and we're supposed to be sent to the venue in a bus.
This year it was different because the meeting point IS the venue.

It was way better than the first one I went to,
which was the one in Carlsberg factory.

This time I knew more people there, and I had a hellova good time.
I drank too much and spend the end of the night feeling awful because

PUKE.
And I look stupid in all the pics because I was pulling all sorts of weird faces.

The most decent picture of moi, but Iris looks funneh la.

Pictures from Yeeing's blog.

Luckily I went with Yat who made sure I was alright and sent me home.

7 July - L'anniversaire

I feel that I look older. I went for the "How I think a 25 year old should look" look.

I just curled my hair and part my hair to the side to look more mature. XD
After spending the entire morning hung-over, I finally got up and got ready for my awesome day of officially turning older.

The dude Mr Yat brought me to Ficelle in Taman Desa.

It's a patisserie but they have other food like spaghetti too.

Taken with S4 LOL.

After that we went to Pavilion and just walked around.
I went to Sephora LOT10 to claim my birthday present from them.

Just show the email to the ladies at the counter and they'll happily give it to you with an extra "happy birthday". =D
I actually spent a lot of money there la, but... it was my birthday. =X
A good reason to spend a lot of money.

Had dinner at Ichibanboshi in Pavilion.
All my favourite. The fish skin was oily and soggy, but the rest were OISHII!!!!

Wanted to get a Happy Birthday Sticky for myself but... I didn't know so many people shared my birthday...
I have my very own "driver". It was a good day.
LOL

Post-birthday

After my enjoyable weekend, I didn't get to rest much for the rest of July weekends.
I had outing with friends from uni and my friend came from Penang.

The funny faces are nicer lol.

My UM gang that spend a lot of time together for 3 years.

It wasn't a birthday celebration, but I was glad I hung out with them, because even though we meet around twice a year, we'll still have things to talk about every time we meet, and time is never enough.

I definitely more mature now, even though I still think I have a big room for improvement.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
