Miss Independent

As of now, I am more proud of myself than ever before,

because I'm a step closer to being Miss (fully) Independent.

Newest addition to my family of things. 

I know it's no MacBook Pro, but it's great nonetheless. =)

I have bought everything that I currently own and use.

(except the car which I only pay for petrol and maintenence *cough*)

Why do I think being independent is such a big deal?

Because my parents brought me up this way, and I have finally reached one of my goals.

Story about how I became so independent. 

I was sent to babysitter's place since I was in kindergarten.

On the first day of my primary school,

all the parents stood outside the classroom and watched the progress of class.

My parents were at work.

My older sister came and visit because she was in the same school.

During high school, same thing.

I went to school by myself, cycled, walked, and drove.

I never got into big trouble so my parents didn't need to see the teachers.

Well there was once when students with crappy results had to bring their parents over,

but the teacher didn't have much to say about me because I was the wallflower.

I doubt they could even remember my name if not for the report card. 

During uni, I came all the way to KL to study and my parents didn't send me over.

I brought 2 luggages of stuff and took a bus with a lot of other people from Penang.

Again, my sister was in UM too, so she took care of me a little,

but well, I didn't really need much taking care of anyway. =X

The only time my parents came to UM for me was during my graduation,

and I'm glad I made them proud. =)

When I came back to KL to work, I took a bus down alone, for my interview,

and when I got the job, I took a bus down and looked for a place to rent all by myself.

My sister was here but I just crashed at her house for a few days till I found my room,

and I moved in right before I started work. 

My parents weren't there for these times because I'm not from a rich family.

Both of them have to work and I understand that. I guess I was quite understanding since I was a kid, because I never made it a problem. 

I don't remember bugging my parents to come to school and see me or for my parents to bring my books when I forgot them. 

If I forget anything, I'll have to face the teacher's wrath. 

(Which was quite often because I was a super lazy student who didn't do homework and don't bother to pack my books properly).

Through all these times, I'm really thankful that I have my older sister there too.

She was like my extra parent. (nags like 1 too). 

Like I said, my parents work,

so when I was home alone,
I would learn to cook simple food, 

and I baked quite a lot when I was in high school. 

My parents taught us how to do all the house chores,

even those that are "what boys are suppose to do",

like changing the light bulb, changing the water tap when it's leaky. 

Ok, so that was how I became so independent. 

My parents brought me up in a different way.

Really glad they did. 

Now back to current time. 

The only thing separating me from being fully independent is my car, and a house,

which I plan to get in a few year's time. Well, not both together, but

To me, being independent is a big deal,

because I have low self-esteem and being better than someone in anyway is important,

so now I am bragging because I have bragging rights.

Just kidding.

Or was I.

*cough*

I guess this is why I can't stand girls who are highly dependable. 

I can't understand why they need people to fetch them and not feel shame,

or how they aren't shameful to ask people to fetch them when they can just take public transport.

I can't understand people who would die if one day they have no one to take care of them.
I can't understand people (especially boys) who can't leave home to study or work.

I lose my sympathy for these people because if I can do it, why can't you?
Just take the first step and you'll find that you're more independent that you ever imagined.

Believe in yourself.

Panoramas of my Bangkok trip

I've been so lazy to do anything lately I even used an obvious title.

So here are all the panorama pics that I took with my phone for my trip to Bangkok 2 weeks ago.

First day and day 4 and 5 were shopping day so no time to take pics!!! LOL

So here are the pics from day 2 and 3. 

5th day was goodbye day so no panorama pics too. 

We took a "tour" to Ayuthaya, the Melaka of Thai.

The above pictures were from different historical sites and temples.

It was interesting to find that 99% of the figures were decapitated while the rest of the bodies were fully intact,

even for the carvings in stone. 

It was scorching hot but the trip was interesting and quite worth the money. 

It costed us 3500baht for 3 for the entire trip (which took 1 whole day) including transport to all the places and Chocolate Ville,

as pictured below.

A wonderful place to take pics and just chill after a long day's walk.

Then we went to the Grand Palace, as pictured below. 

We're not allowed to enter it other than the museums at the bottom.

It featured badass looking weapons they used in their past wars, but we weren't allowed to take pictures.

The Grand Palace is connected to Wat Phra Kaew.

I'll be updating about the trip later, though not sure how far later since next week is quite packed for me. Maybe I'll find time while I'm procrastinating. =p

B is for brown, the versatile colour of my favourite pair of boots. They match well with a lot of my outfits. 

  

B is for brown, the palette for eyeshadow that I adore. It's subtle and natural yet gives is a great choice to accentuate my eyes. 

B is for brown, the colour for contact lenses of my choice. It's natural, down to earth, timeless and warm. 

B is for brown, the colour i chose to dye my hair with. It's not too attention seeking yet not too boring. It's the most long lasting among the colours I've tried too. 

And finally, B is for brown, the new addition to Samsung Galaxy Note II colours.

I think the phone looks great in this colour because it looks really elegant and classy. 

Brown gives a really warm and comforting feeling. It's elegant and long lasting too, just like some relationships.

其实想听你说:爱我别走

So，I had an awesome last weekend, and part of it was because of this journey up a hill in my little car with Iris.

There was a terrible jam not too far after the RM5 toll. Up the snake-like highway it went and after about 30minutes, we finally saw what was wrong. A container-lorry made a double u-turn on our side of the road.
Which means the front of the lorry is facing the container, forming some thing close to an oval.

It blocked 2 lanes out of 3 which is bad enough, and people from the asshole lane a.k.a emergency lane suddenly decided to merge into the only lane that is moving. Now why they chose to go to the emergency lane and decide to turn back into the legal lane is beyond me. I guess they like the crowd.

After a few "you can do it!!" encouragement to my little car, we finally reached!! Weeeeeeee. Dinner at McD coz it's cheapest and was on top of my mind.

After that we went to the casino and both of us tried our luck for the first time there. Luck was taking a break that night.

Then when it was around 8.10p.m. we walked over to the Arena of Stars with 2 extra ticket and we plan to give it to 2 random people. I have 2 extra tickets because I have no friends. --__________--lll I admit it.

Was suppose to go with Jennifer but she had an emergency facial session which would be postponed to July if missed. What kind of shop does that...

Anyway, here we are. Didn't manage to give out the tickets because.... everyone had one already.

Tadaaaaaaaaa. Media seats from Monoah. Thanks a lot. 

Tanya started the concert with a few songs that I love, and a few that I've never heard of. =X Ok, I'm not the crazy big fan, but I swear there probably was at least 1 new song. =X

Some songs that I knew (and could remember) were 双栖动物， Beautiful Love， 若你碰到他，陌生人，and 无底洞.

I love all the display behind the stage.

And of course the glaring lights that look like lazer beams scanning the crowd for smuggled-in cameras. One thing I don't get about being the "media" is why I can't bring my camera in. Not everyone has a 10megapixel camera phone you know. How are we suppose to cover anything without pictures?

The illustrations are really nice and goes well with the songs. On the side screens, there were the words to her songs, so the concert was like a huge karaoke with live singer and a giant sing along.

This illustration below reminds me of Harry Potter. XD

She even covered Lady Gaga's song just to pick up the pace, since her songs are mostly slow. But before she left the stage, she sang Beautiful Love, a very successful sing along.

And Tanya actually gave a spoiler without the alert when she said that a singer/ songwriter that she admires and has collaborated with, will be appearing half way through the songs.

I was half hoping that Stephanie Sun would appear, you know, as a guest singer. =X

And yes, it was A-Yue who appeared. 

Tadaaaaaaaaaaa.

They shared the stage for a duration of 1.5 songs. 

Did a little chat too. 

The spotlight was shining like this for quite long. It went away and came back a few times too. Wrong direction man.

The background of A-Yue's performance were more animated.

Again, the lazer beams. Pew pew pew.

Like Tanya, he sang a few songs that I knew and a few more that I didn't, but I could sing along better to his songs, song like . He even took the time to introduce his band and backup singers.

A-Yue sang more upbeat songs, but he also sat down with his guitar for a slow song too. After he sang his final song，再见，he left the stage. And after some fan screaming and encore chants, both the singers came back up, hand in hand and sang 思念是一种病.

To end the whole concert, they sang A-Yue's 自由，which got most of the audience around my area on their feet. Iris and I included, though we were quite shy because the people behind us were recording. But hey, recording is not permitted. =X

The whole concert ended with a bang. It'd be nice to be sitting near the stage. Imagine confetti raining on you.

I'm positive that anyone who knows their songs has an enjoyable time. It was my first concert so I didn't know what to expect, but this was nice. I would prefer if they spend more time together or at least had more interaction, but it's still great nonetheless. Had a great time singing along to the songs from my teen years. It brings back memories.
