Okomen Japanese Restaurant

So I was invited by Caroline who was invited by someone
to do a food review for Okomen Japanese Restaurant.
in Desa Sri Hartamas.

It's the first of its kind in Malaysia,
with authentic Japanese food.

The food there is non-halal as they provide pork and alcohol.
The ambiance is really great.

Dim lighted with these lanterns as the main source of light.

If you'd like to see how your food is cooked.
Don't worry,
there's a glass there so you won't be smoked.

We were greeted with really friendly waiters
and after everyone arrived,
the boss, Alan started to cook for us. =D

He cooked all the food
that we devoured that day.
YUMMY!!

Mochi and cheese Okonomiyaki
This is mainly cabbage
but as a non-vege lover, I approve!!

The cheese adds texture to the bite
and makes the overall taste great.

The brown sauce was poured on after it's cooked
or else it'll burn.
(says the lady boss)

Omu Tori Yaki Soba
As someone who doesn't eat soba,
this is nice too.
Though I can't see myself eating the whole dish by myself.

Modan Yaki

Another noodle based dish which I like.
The size of the shrimp. =I
It has shrimps and cuttle fish rings inside.
Chewy and fresh.

After the 3 dishes
we were allowed to choose from the menu.
And here's something that you don't get everyday.

Pork cheeks
Tastes like charsiu,
but it's more chewy.

Chuka Iidako!!!
I think I need to try all the chuka iidako
wherever it's offered.

I was slightly disappointed with this one.
I like my food chewy,
and this was quite soft,
giving the impression that it's not fresh.
But it still tastes good nonetheless.

Scallop Teppan
I ordered this
and the scallops are really fresh.
It tastes better when eaten with the onion leaves.
Otherwise,
it's juicy, but rather bland.

Desert on the other hand,
was far from bland.

We got to choose between greentea ice-cream
and black sesame.

Since I've never been a fan of black sesame
(ice-cream or anything else)
I took the green tea flavoured,
and it was the correct choice.

The ice-cream had a really thick green tea taste to it,
unlike a lot of others that I've tried.
It was soft but not powdery.

Overall experience at Okomen?
Great.

The food, the ambiance, the service were great.

And you can tell that a Japanese restaurant is good
when 5/6 of the customers are Japanese!!

Give it a try if you're interested in authentic Japanese food.
