Paranoia- 2013 (Movie afterthoughts)

My dude says the movie is not named appropriately. I agree.
I'm more paranoid than the main character and I'm not even a spy.
If I were a spy, I would probably blow my own mind with conspiracy theories before anyone gets to me.
FML?

LOL

Paranoia is about this young (and hot) tech guy who made one wrong decision and that became leverage for his ex-boss (because he was fired) to use him.

He was recruited and trained to become a corporate spy, well,
to get details of a new products from, wait for it,
.
.
.
the competing company
of which the boss was an old mentor/ friend
now turned enemy of (the recently turned ex) boss.
*shudders*

It's a typical movie with no twists,
or at least no significant-what-just-happened, you-sneaky-screenwriter-twist.

Why I said I would blow my own mind before anyone gets to me (if I were a spy) is because by the middle of the movie,
I've come up with an ending at the back of my head (multitasking baby).

I took the characters, the way they acted, and with the circumstances in the movie,
and I put myself in the character's shoes,
and

BOOM

instant paranoia.

I would totally be watching my back if I were him.
If your boss trains you to become a spy,
wouldn't you expect that they themselves will be spying on you and see if you're actually doing your spy job?

The flaws of the movie is that the screenwriter is lazy.
A leading tech company wouldn't be so easy to hack in.
Come on, a vault with a digital coded lock that can be hacked with a normal code hacker?

If Apple HQ is so easy to hack, people wouldn't need to stay awake tonight
just to get the announcement of the new phones.

[I think both hardcore Android and ios supporters will be up.]
(One waiting to cheer no matter what is announced, the other ready to pounce at the lack of improvement.)

Anyway,
here's my   version of the story.

Adam, the hot lead is the smart, capable, next-big-thing tech guy who seeks for a chance to shine.
The boss says that his idea is shit and throws him out.
He makes the smart move of not making "that wrong decision"
and voila.

No more movie.

*how it should have ended* Lol?

This movie is a bet by the boss on "would Adam the smart guy make the wrong decision?"
If yes, movie time!!
If no,
*sniff*
Oh well.
*shrugs*

Ok another   version of my version of the story.

Adam, the hot lead, is the smart, charismatic, capable, next-big-thing tech guy who seeks for a chance to shine.
The boss says that his idea is shit and throws him out.
He makes the dumb "wrong decision",
his boss catches him in the act, use it as leverage, and now he's the spy.

He befriends the people in the other company,
earns their trust,
gets whatever the boss wants him to get,
and
it turns out,

it's actually a plot to bury upcoming, smart, new tech guys that pose as a threat to both companies,
and both the bosses being enemies were just a facade.

They were working together all along.
Adam gets:

a) killed in the process and covered up by a car accident (typical)
b) sent to jail and slammed with a huge lawsuit by the company he's spying on (for loses, yada yada)
because the bosses have evidence that he's stealing corporate information (since the first company was spying on him all along)
And he never gets his "bright future plea" because he doesn't live in this country.

The. End.

Did the movie end like I imagined it would?
Find out for yourself.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. After "The end" for Adam, the boss who sends him as a spy uses the information he gets, sells it as his company's newest product, and the second boss whose information is stolen actually planted a glitch which is so complicated it needs a "cure" that only his company has, and that product that was stolen wasn't even actually real product that they were going to market and they market the real "state-of-the-art" product and both bosses goes into a feud and they become the movie version of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Spoiler: Steve Jobs dies.

Spoiler: We all die in the end.

I'm really bored at work.

One post to cover them all- August

The last picture I took with my long hair. I miss it already, but everyone seems to like me with short hair more. *sigh*

So this post is about August.
I realize that I took a lot of pictures, thinking "I'll blog about this later" but never get to use them.
So, this is going to be a monthly thing,
as the title suggests,
a blogpost to cover all the events that I might or might not have blogged about.

First significantly interesting event that happened in August.
Niamahsutra

Stand-up comedy with Douglas Lim & Patrick Teoh, per se.
I had a great laugh, and a little "bonding" session with the gang I went with after that.
Haven't hung out with friends in a big group for a long time.

So this was the look that I wanted when I decided I want a change with my hair.
Curls. I love them, but they don't love me.
The first time I curled my hair, it was disaster.
the curls were too shallow and close that I look a lot older, (at least I think so).
Not to mention it also ruined my hair.
I had very dry hair for a very long time.

The second time was more disastrous, as I wrote in the full story of my hair makeover.
(For people who cut of 2 inches of hair and call it a makeover, please stand aside).

Next,

I went home during the Raya holidays.
And I think this is the first time I'm showing a photo of my entire family.
Who do you think I look like more?
*scratches chin*

First time I took Malindo Air, to fly from Subang Airport to Penang
and I took Berjaya Air from Penang back to Subang.
They're both affordable with free food and water
and 20kg (I think) of free luggage weight.

Moving on,
it's
Good Vibes Music Fest.

My outfit for Good Vibes.

The pants were actually super short.
I got them in Bangkok, and didn't get to try them.
Cropped top from 6th floor of Sungai Wang.
Necklace from H&M.

A rare picture of my dude and I
We rarely take picture together...
because we rarely take pictures at all.
XD

The main act was Smashing Pumpkins,
we were there until the end,
but I think to everyone who waited till the end's dismay,
they didn't sing 1979.

Then the day after Good Vibes, I went to this Tiger Street Football even that was held in 1Utama.

Met and greeted the gorgeous Fabio Cannavaro.
Melt die.
Because he's 40 and still hot.
His eyes are a mesmerizing shade of light blue.
OMG.
*suddenly fangirl*

Since I know nothing about football,
that's the best I can tell about this event.
Did wiki him before he came in so I know just that little bit about him.
=X

And guess who got to take a picture with him.

I won Clinique moisturiser from Charmaine + Nuffnang!!
=D

Bought ringlight and tested it out.
25 and acting cute with duck face and all.

Checked out the Mission Q in SS15 Subang, right above Watson's facing the main road.

We took the room 2 challenge, which is "Escape from the Matrix".
It has nothing to do with the movie so don't worry,
just try it.

We were the first team to finish and successfully escape yo!!!

But it was just their soft launch, someone probably beat our time by now. lol.
Basically the whole point of the game is to escape a "room" within the given time.
There are clues which you need to solve,
and sometimes, things are really not what they seem.

After that we went to a sushi joint, Sushi Flash a few shops next to Watsons.
It's new. The shop was the old Tutti Fruitti.
All the sushi were really cheap,
and the food matches the price.

It's not bad though.

On the same day,
we became adventurers with Heineken.
I ended up with a crate of Heineken. :3

I did a tutorial on this look.
Click for the tutorial.

August was ok to me.
There were ups and downs.
But as a OL,
there's not much happening in my life,
I go to work, I go home.
=/

Wish my life was a lot more interesting,
but wasn't born with a silver spoon in any part of my body,
and I don't get to do the "my daddy buys me everything but I still want more" rant.

But I guess it's good to be financially independent,
and that my blog is not my only income.

So now, September,
I hope you're as beautiful as this sunrise.

That's what J_Fish wants to say~ Au Revoir~

p.s. Don't mind if I can sustain my spendings just by blogging though. =X

Colossal Titan from Attack on Titan Makeup

Went shopping with my dude yesterday and being an anime lover,
he dragged me over to the Animangaki Convention in Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.

The cosplays were meh, but we saw one of the girls wearing a Japanese 'sailor' school uniform with the mask of Colossal Titan from Shingeki no Kyojin a.k.a Attack On Titan. (wtf?)
My dude said "if someone could do make up of that look, it'll be quite epic" (paraphrased)
and 2 words popped up in my head:

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!

So after I got home, I decided to try out the look.
If you don't know how the Colossal Titan looks like, the reference is at the end of the post.

The before titan look.

Making the parts that are supposed to be white brighter with BB cream.

 Smear it and blend it.

Roughly mark out the lines for the white and red sections.
I used a liquid eyeliner.
You can use anything else as long as you can clearly see the lines and know the separation for colours.
Refer to the pictures to know where the tendons and muscles go.

Added white eyeshadow for the white parts.
Not too obvious but it doesn't really matter because once the red goes on,
the contrast would be obvious enough.

Smeared lipstick all the parts that are supposed to be red.

Smudge it out to fill in the blank parts.
Don't forget to leave a part at the cheeks for the teeth on the sides.

Draw in the teeth. Fill in the gaps that are not supposed to be teeth with more lipstick.
The teeth are in one straight line so just draw a straight horizontal line and draw bows on top and below it,
which should align.

Add on more details to the lines and make the "lining" of the red part darker,
blending the lines with the lipstick for the shadowing.
I used a copious amount of gel liner for easier blending.
Drew some of the lines with brown eyeshadow too.

As for the brush, I used a lip brush and angle brush.

And finally, draw in the rest of the details.
Pay more attention to the tendons. They should be in a very thin line, but since I don't have the correct tools, this will do. And by this time, I was pretty darn lazy to add in too many details.

I think I kinda look like Darth Maul.
Next project maybe. =X

I modified the teeth part so that it looks flatter and better. The one on top looks like the titan needs braces.
So, here's the end look,
and how the titan would look like if it had hair.

Can? Can? Pass?
XD

It's ok if you make mistakes.
Through out this whole make up test I wiped off a lot of make up and redid parts by parts.
Just don't lose patience and clear everything off.

I don't recommend using lipstick because it comes off very easily.
Since it's an impromptu thing, I just used whatever I have, which is basic make up items like:
Lipstick
White eyeshadow
Liquid liner
Gel liner
Angle brush
Lip brush

I suggest you use face paint as it's probably easier.

Houston, we have a problem

So, this mascara is like THE big thing mascara that Maybelline has been creating hype for.
They're so proud and confident about this mascara that they even have a "money back guarantee".
Well it could be fake confidence since most Malaysians would just say
"Aiya never mind la, have to go back to return waste time. Next time don't buy again can liao"

How many of you actually would go back for the money back?

Since their focus is on no clumping, I tested it out, and here's the answer.

After first coat

After second coat

It doesn't really clump if you apply 2 coats, but for the second coat, you'll see that the tip of the lashes are slightly bulkier and thicker, meaning if I went on with coat number 3, clumping will happen.

The other eye shows lashes without mascara.

My verdict:
It's just an average mascara.

Does it lengthen my lashes?
Yes, but not very much.

Does it volumize?
It does what a mascara should do. Refer to pictures above and you be the judge.

Does it smudge?
No. It stays in place all day long, unless you touch it or pull it.

Is it waterproof?
Not at all. Once water drips on it, it just falls off. You can just pluck if off and it won't it hurt.

Is it worth the hype?
MEH

Even though this is a decent mascara, I don't get the hype. It's just... decent. It's not extra good, it's not bad. Priced at RM39.90 it's slightly more expensive than other mascara by Maybelline,
which I don't see why.

I did get a free gift with purchase though.

After 12 hours of applying. Still looking fresh. The only thing I love about this mascara.

Tell me what you think about it if you've tried it.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au revoir~

Dat non-existing things called prooof-read*

Yes, irony.

If you don't know, I work both full time and freelance as a translator/ copywriter. #UnnecessaryConfession

I sometimes have to check the work of other people and although I don't have perfect grammar, I do try my best to follow the rules, especially when it's work related. Even in my blog I try to make it as grammatically correct as possible.

I've been very annoyed recently because I have to endure the horror of correcting obvious grammatical mistakes, which are absolutely ridiculous.

I get it, people make mistakes, I wouldn't dare say that there are zero errors in my work, but the correction I have to do for others is incredibly stupid.

I think it's unacceptable that people who are paid to work could be so lazy in proof-reading.

I could understand when people make mistakes when speaking, because the brain might not be able to form a grammatically correct sentence on cue, but this is written work, the person is given enough time to check it, and yet I find sentences like:

Tradition industry are fishery

The florid of rose are love. As to express his endless love to his beloved, he frozen the rose and gave it to the girl. They live a happily life ever after.

The egg that made with golden symbolize harvest and prosperous, but only those who are rich enough will craft this mascot on purpose.

and one of the best

In Greece mythology, Prometheus light a star anise out if the flame of sun car. He brings the fire and walk into human, Athena then blow a magic wind into it. When the flame was finally blow off, it turns into a crystal that able to bloom 7 different colour.

My brain hurts when I see sentences like these. And this is AFTER I rejected the work and asked the person to check. TWICE

I wonder if the people who wrote these sentences read and understood it. Somebody save me.

I don't think there's an excuse for such terrible mistakes. If you apply for a job that involves and revolves around language and grammar, you should know your shit. If not, you should know you're shit.

That's what J_Fish has to say~ Au Revoir~
p.s. I did think it through, you know, if it's unprofessional to talk about work, but I'm not talking about the people I work for, I'm just pointing out how lazy some people can be. And to be honest, if the people really did their job, this post wouldn't come up. So that's that.
